Two years after arriving, Frédéric Vasseur has renewed his contract as Ferrari's Formula 1 team principal . The agreement is valid for several years, with the exact duration not announced.
In a statement, the Frenchman said how he views the extension of his contract with the Maranello manufacturer: "I am grateful for the trust that Ferrari continues to place in me. This renewal is not just a confirmation - it is a challenge to continue to progress, stay focused and deliver results ."
Upon arriving at Ferrari, Frédéric Vasseur's mission was to lay the foundations for a return to the top of the Formula 1 World Championship and the titles that have eluded him for more than 15 years.
The Scuderia leader stressed that now we must build on these foundations: "Over the past 30 months, we have laid solid foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination. We know what is expected, and we are all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step together."
The results with Frédéric Vasseur
As 2023 only arrived in January, Frédéric Vasseur played a less prominent role in the preparation for that season, which Ferrari finished third in the championship and was the only team other than Red Bull to win - thanks to Carlos Sainz at the Singapore GP.
The improvements were clear last year, the first fully developed under the Frenchman's baton. Five race wins between Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc and the runner-up position in the constructors' championship were the results of 2024, raising expectations for this year.
Especially with the announcement of Lewis Hamilton's signing. However, performance compared to its rivals has deteriorated. Ferrari is still second in the championship, but so far it has no chance of challenging McLaren or winning races.
Changes in the technical team
In terms of structure, it is worth highlighting the hiring of Loïc Serra as chassis technical director and Jérôme d'Ambrosio as deputy team principal last year - both from Mercedes.
Also in 2024, Diego Tondi was appointed as technical director of aerodynamics, while in 2023 Fabio Montecchi was appointed as chief project engineer after David Sanchez moved to McLaren.
It is worth mentioning that Frédéric Vasseur's position was the subject of rumors - with speculation about Ferrari approaching Christian Horner, who was recently released by Red Bull .
